My Car Wont Start

January 13th, 2012

Dead car

If your car does not start there could be numerous possibilities. Here is a list of things to check

  1. Check for bad connections on the battery
  2. check the battery
  3. If it still cranks check the volts on the alternator to see if it’s still charging ( should be somewhere between 13.2 to 15.2 volts if charging)
  4. Check all connections from battery to the starter
  5. if you can tap lightly on the starter and it will crank most likely its starter.(be careful tapping some starters contain magnets)
  6. if all of this checks well and you turn the key on and the lights come on but the engine does nothing(no clicking) then it could also possibly be ignition switch or neutral safety switch.
  7. If you have not yet determined the issue checking the fuses would always be a good idea.

Salmon recipe

January 1st, 2011

Prepare salmon filet with seasoned salt and pepper to taste and set aside.  Start with an empty cast iron skillet.  Heat skillet on stovetop using Med-Hi heat. Add about 1 Tablespoon of butter and 1 Tablespoon of olive oil.  When oil is hot (not smoking but shimmering) add salmon filet, skin side down, and cook for about four minutes.  Allow a good sear – don’t touch it or move it until crust is perfect on the bottom.  Flip fish over and sear for another two to three minutes – again, do not move it until crust has formed on the bottom.  Remove to plate and serve with a simple pat of butter on top or a more elaborate sauce!  Moist and flavorful every time!

Red Skelton’s recipe for the perfect marriage

February 9th, 2009

Red Skelton’s recipe for the perfect marriage

A well-known routine of Red Skelton’s.

Two times a week, we go to a nice restaurant, have a little beverage, good food and companionship. She goes on Tuesdays, I go on Fridays.
We also sleep in separate beds. Hers is in California and mine is in Texas.
I take my wife everywhere….. but she keeps finding her way back.
I asked my wife where she wanted to go for our anniversary. “Somewhere I haven’t been in a long time!” she said. So I suggested the kitchen.
We always hold hands. If I let go, she shops.
She has an electric blender, electric toaster and electric bread maker. She said “There are too many gadgets and no place to sit down!” So I bought her an electric chair.
My wife told me the car wasn’t running well because there was water in the carburetor. I asked where the car was; she told me “In the lake.”
She got a mud pack and looked great for two days. Then the mud fell off.
She ran after the garbage truck, yelling “Am I too late for the garbage?” …. The driver said “No, jump in!”
Remember: Marriage is the number one cause of divorce.
I married Miss Right. I just didn’t know her first name was Always.
I haven’t spoken to my wife in 18 months. I don’t like to interrupt her.
The last fight was my fault though! My wife asked “What’s on the TV?” I said “Dust!”
